Good (and organized!) Morning

Who wishes they could have just a littleee extra time in the morning to enjoy a warm cup of coffee at the kitchen table? Or even a moment of quiet before the kids wake up? With some very simple organization tips and some night-before-preparation, you may actually discover those 10 or 15 precious minutes to yourself before your day begins. Check them out below!

But first, coffee! Most all of us can relate to needing that morning cup of Joe (even if you’re a hot lemon water or morning tea drinker). One of my key tips for organizing your kitchen is simplicity, and that goes for a morning coffee station, too. Place your coffee pot or instant coffee machine near your coffee grinds or pods. These, along with assorted tea bags, sugars, honey and creamers can live in labeled baskets either on the countertop, or tucked away in a cabinet close by for a cleaner look. Keep mugs or to-go cups handy so everything is at an arms length when you brew your first cup.

An apple a day… More commonly, it seems like it’s smoothies and supplementation instead! Now, lets ease into the most important meal of the day: breakfast. One of the most simple breakfasts during a time crunch is an on-the-go option like a smoothie, so what could be more helpful than a smoothie station? Line your most commonly used mix-ins (like protein powder and super foods) up near your blender (I love a NutriBullet or Vitamix) for easy access, pour in your preferred to-go cup and you’re all set! All of your morning nutrition (vitamins and supplements) should live close by, too. Consider a stadium style set up so everything stored remains visible, like I did below for a recent client in Manhattan!

Winding down overnight. At the end of the day, you’re not the only one (or thing) that should take a break. Cell phones, iPads, Apple Watches - you name it! - should be tucked away overnight so you (and they) have time to recharge. Not only does this help you wind down before bed, but also during the morning rush! Setting up an electronics storing and charging station ensures that all of your must-haves are charged at 100% for your full day ahead. It also eliminates the risk of the age old question: “now where did I leave my phone?!”

Grab and go. Another easy way to give yourself extra time in the morning is to prepare any food you’ll be eating the next day the night before. Meal prep is definitely something I recommend for when you want to grab your things and hit the road. Consider choosing one night per week when you prepare, or at the very least, outline what you’ll be having for lunch the next day so you can pack your day bag with your Tupperware full of nutritious meals. Clean eating, and saving time and money…sounds good to me!
